If every moment in life is precious, some are more precious than others.
Before you start giving me that smile, thinking He does have a heart after all...
I'm talking practicalities. Not the birth of your first child, or getting your dream job, or buying your first house.
(Although yes, of course, I do think they're hugely precious.)
This week, I was privileged to be part of the team who welcomed the Malaysian Minister for Entrepreneurship to Cambridge Judge Business School.
I'm pleased to say Mohd Redzuan Yusof enjoyed his visit so much, he was happy for some of our businesses to present their ideas to him.
We didn't know this was going to happen, which meant the businesses had only minutes' notice of their challenge.
So, what did they do? Run about in a flap, wasting those precious minutes, or...
This is Govinda, Ignacio and Dewi.
When they heard about the opportunity, they headed straight out onto the roof terrace and began practicing their pitches.
And kept practicing. Until it was time to perform.
Not a precious moment wasted.
I noticed what was going on, snuck out and watched with a big smile, because I just love the dedication, determination and desire of brilliant entrepreneurs like these.
And the result of their extra work?
They presented high quality pitches. And who knows where that will lead?
The potential for important investment in their fledgling businesses, or access to the Malaysian market?
And part of the reason for that...
Dewi, Govinda and Ignacio recognised they had a few precious moments, and made the most of them.
