Simon has taught creative writing at universities and colleges across Britain and Europe, and is credited by many former students with helping them on the path to publication.

He has lectured, and held seminars and workshops at the Winchester Writers’ Festival, the Swanwick Writers’ Summer School, for the National Association of Writers Groups, and in libraries and schools.

He is a tutor in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education.

He has mentored students at the Universities of Cambridge and Exeter into careers in the media, and regularly lectures on life as a journalist, and how to get into the profession.

Courses Simon can teach include

  • The Twists and Turns of Compelling Storytelling
  • The Power of the Writer’s Voice
  • The Secrets of Settings

The sessions can be structured to run across a week, or last for a day, morning or afternoon.

Simon also teaches the art of journalism, including photography and videography.
